refreshHorizon

refreshHorizon is a series based on anomalies found within Google Maps. Google sources what is usually thought of as ‘satellite imagery’ from various companies. Some of it comes from satellites, most is taken from the air. As I explored google maps I noticed subtle changes in colouration, that didn’t look like much at the scale we usually view them from. Once I took multiple screen-grabs and stitched them together, it became clear that the map had itself been stitched together – a certain refresh rate travelling at the speed of plane, or satellite had resulted in weather patterns changing from one section of the map to the next.
