mont.h.age

The mont.h.age exhibition showcased the vibrant and innovative work of first-year BA (Hons) Media Arts students, marking a significant milestone in their artistic journey. This exhibition represented the culmination of four weeks of intense, high-energy collaboration, where students transformed their ideas into actual artworks, reflecting their growth and explorations during the initial module of their academic program.

The exhibition was not just about displaying work; it was a collaborative effort that engaged all participants in the entire process. Every student contributed significantly to various aspects, such as preparing exhibition spaces, installing artworks, and producing explanatory texts and signage. This hands-on involvement fostered a sense of community and ownership, as everyone rolled up their sleeves to ensure the exhibition was a true reflection of their collective efforts.

In addition to these tasks, students created a dedicated website to showcase their work online, conducted thorough documentation of the exhibition (see the video above), and actively promoted it to garner attention. This comprehensive approach maximised the visibility of their creative expressions and highlighted the importance of collaboration in the arts.

Crucial to the success of the mont.h.age Exhibition was the mentorship provided by curator and photographer Tim Mills, and filmmaker Dr. Allister Gall. Both took an active role in co-developing the exhibition alongside the students, guiding them through the creative and logistical challenges involved in curating a successful show. Their experience and insight enriched the learning experience, empowering students to explore their creative potentials fully.
